From April 12th, the construction of the main dome’s plate and the surrounding harvest continued. Each day we adjusted our pace to the changing texture of the salar: some areas were firm enough for machines, others still held more water than salt. Progress was visible but uneven.

This year, the rainy season extended far beyond what is usual. Normally, the salar dries between December and February. However, in this year rains continued through March, even into April, turning access tracks into water and making it impossible to start work safely or productively.

Dear Friends of El Santuario del Agua,

As all of our conversations, collective ideas and blueprints start to take shape, our recent journey through the lands of the Atacama people-nation was a reminder that beyond the artwork itself, the sanctuary we are building together exists in the salt flats, the stories, and the hands of those who call this ancestral territory their home.

Thanks to your support, we were able to be present, to listen, and to take another vital step toward realizing The Sanctuary of Water, Puritur Lickana. We are writing to share the echoes of that journey with you—the voices, the stories, and the progress made together with the communities who are the heart of this sanctuary. It is because of you that this living fabric of territory, spirituality, and resistance continues to be woven.
